Why · the principle

Learn from outliers; benchmark against the baseline

An outlier = a video far above a channel's average (cited 2.5x–500x; one case 97x). Method: break it into idea/title/thumbnail/format/hook, then ADAPT (don't copy) — ideally modelling adjacent niches, and favouring outliers from SMALL channels (they broke out without an existing audience).

Taught by Paddy Galloway, Codie Sanchez, Colin and Samir

But then they upload this video that gets almost 700,000 views and is a 97 times outlier, which essentially means that this video performed 97 times better than the previous videos on this channel.

The Outlier Breakdown

Result First grabs instantly. Breakdown delivers the structure. Curiosity Loop sustains tension. Re-Hook reactivates those drifting off. Proof Injection makes it credible.

  1. 1
    #4 · Result First
    Lead with the outcome.
Why it works: People respond to results more than to processes.
  2. 2
    #23 · Breakdown
    Make complexity simple.
Why it works: Understanding creates trust.
  3. 3
    #31 · Curiosity Loop
    Open with an unresolved puzzle.
Why it works: Open questions create tension.
  4. 4
    #43 · Re-Hook
    Actively pull the viewer back.
Why it works: Attention dips cyclically — re-hooks reset it.
  5. 5
    #57 · Proof Injection
    Deliver proof that builds trust.
Why it works: Trust through proof — not claims.
